What is the difference between XPERT files *.tpr and *.tpi

*.tpi is a configuration for an installation (=ship or power plant). It contains all input forms, formulas and report definitions. Before you can use the software, you must import (or download by Files->Installations->Update) a *.tpi.

*.tpr is the data file containing all recorded data in a reading. After creating a new Reading, the *.tpr is automatically saved in the “Workspace” location and listed under Readings of the corresponding Installation / Equipment. *.tpr files can be sent to other users (who have also setup the same Installation in their instance of the software) by e-mail.

What file sizes are to be expected

Typically a *.tpi configuration has 100 kB. A *.tpr Reading will be between 3 and 30 kB

What file names are to be given to XPERT files

File names don't matter for the program. Any name can be assigned (make sure not to use illegal characters). The program will during the import read the file content and determine where the data belongs to.

Can users share the same Workspace

Yes. A Workspace can be on the local hard drive, a network drive or database. Concurrent access where several users open the same reading, will be handled like in other office software: the file is locked for editing for all other users (read-only is indicated in the top of the Reading page).

How to backup data

In the case that a file system based workspace is used, we recommend including the Workspace-Location's sub folder Readings in an incremental, scheduled backup. You may also backup the folders content (*.tpr files) to a backup location and if needed restore the readings by importing all *.tpr files. The program will give you the choice what to do when conflicts occur (keep existing, overwrite).

It is not required to back up the Workspace-Location's sub folder Installations. All *.tpi configurations are available to you in the on-line repository on the Tekomar server. To download, update or restore installations, just go to “Files->Installations->Update”. Without internet access, you may request missing configurations from Tekomar or restore them from the CD-ROM initially sent.

Backup of data is not required when working with the cloud workspace.

How many copies can I install

Accelleron initially grants a limited number of Activations. However, on request this count can be raised.

Where to install the software

You must install and activate the software on the computer that will run it. It is not possible to set a network drive location as installation path and then run the executables from other computers.

You can install the software on a Terminal Server and have users running it in their Remote Desktop session.

How to get software updates

The program will periodically check for updates and install them depending on the update preferences set. If no internet connection is available, you must download software updates as off-line updater packages from here: http://www.tekomar.com/software

During setup, the software claims that Microsoft .NET 4.7.1 package is missing

With internet access, let the installer download and install the package from Microsoft.

Without internet access, have someone downloading the installer from Microsoft, or preferably, load the XPERT-installer package from our download page. After installation of the .NET 4.7.1 Client Profile, run the *.msi installer of Tekomar XPERT again.

The program looks differently on my computer than compared to documentation or Tekomar product website

For portability of the software between different operation systems, the programming framework contains various visual elements, each best suitable for different operation systems. Any Windows operation system including and after Windows XP will be compatible.

The Performance Curves look squeezed in vertical direction

The display adapts to the application window size and ultimately to the screen size. Preferably use screens with vertical resolution of at least 900px.

You may print the chart page to PDF to get the aspect ratio to portrait orientation and nicer looking curves.

Can regional settings have an impact (decimal delimiter, etc)?

Data handling inside the application and data export is not affected by regional settings. But in cases where text/csv data is to be imported, it may be relevant.

How to uninstall the program?

Uninstall it from Control Panel. The activation of the license will stay active and new installed software is automatically active after setup.

Will uninstall delete all data?

No. Any data in Workspace Location(s) is preserved. Also, user specific settings (typically stored in the user profile) will not be removed.

In general, the program only removes files during uninstall what were part of the installation. Any added files will remain on the computer.

The calculations in the program look strange to me

See application help for more background information or contact CH-support.tekomar@accelleron-industries.com to get detail explanation/corrections.

Will Accelleron  analyse the recorded data

Except for support cases or additional technical support, don't send the data to us.

Will XPERT send data to Accelleron  about the user?

During activation, the program connects to the server and notifies / retrieves the activation. We register the IP address of the activation request. If you don’t want your IP recorded, use offline activation (which requires an e-mail account).

The program will check for updates from time to time. We do not track these requests.

The program creates a local log file (see it under Help->Check log file). This is not reported to Accelleron.

The program can download *.tpi configurations released to your product key (this is initiated by the user).

What kind of access levels are possible?

In general, the program is restricted by underlying file system permissions. If you don't want users to modify/delete files, configure these permissions on operating system / server side.

You can request a read-only product key which will not allow users to modify/delete readings, but to import new readings (e.g. a user in the office may collect but not modify data from the ships).

What means Export to server

You can setup a path where all readings are exported to by default. This could be a folder that is monitored by a ship's E-mail system which sends all found files to a specific address (e.g. onshore)
